We just bought a camper last year (used) and just opened it up today and it smells mildewed. There are no leaks and no water is in there but are we destined to have this smell from now on or is there something we can do to eliminate it? We are new to this and would appreciate any info that anyone would have. Thanks,Balley

Balley, The first thing I would do is air it out then clean it good that should take care of it if there is no leaks or mold, an air freshener will help too.

If you have wood finish anywhere in the camper, use a good wood oil and this will help get rid of some of the odor. Good Luck & Drive Safe!

The smell can be from 2 things that we have had over the years. One we always bleach out our holding tank with some regular household beach. Sometimes bacteria or mold builds up in them. The other problem with ordor that we have had is from the hot water heater. The tube that goes down the center of the hotwater heater may need to be replaced. We actually thought we had a black water leak somewhere everytime someone took a shower. Hope this helps.
