Hi everyone

I just retired my 1989 komfort fifth wheel and my 1999 ford250 powerstroke.

Living in CA on the central coast where everything is so expensive I decided to go to AZ and look for a new trailer at the Jan 2007 Peoria Trailer show. My wife and I looked at some nice trailers, but having a very picky wife who only found one she liked, we decided to go to Mesa. After looking at 100's of new trailers and dealing with hardcore salesmen we decided to look at some used trailers too.

She absolutely did not want any part of the bathroom in the bedroom if we were going to RVfulltime, and she finally found one that she said she could live with. If mamas not happy, no one is happy.

We bought a very clean 2001 Alpha Ideal with a 2001 Ford 250 powerstroke. A package deal. It has 3 super slides and a rear kitchen.  Lots of windows and lots of room. We will be flying out to Phoenix on Feb 15th to pick it up and drive it back. Does anybody know where we could camp that night close to Mesa that would let us camp with our grandaughter who is three. I am 56 ,and my wife is 52. We want to make sure everything is working before we hit the road.

Hope to hear from someone

Anne

We flew out to AZ on 2/15 to pick up our new 5th wheel and we packed 9 suitcases to stock the trailer. Everything was going well until the dealer made the comment that he hadn't received funding. I questioned that because I had already made a payment, besides what dealer would let you take $35K off the lot without funds. I was upset that the owners had not received their money. I decided I was going to call the bank and ask where the money was. Low and behold the money was put into the bank 1/29. While I was putting things away I found the owners address and phone number, so I called and told them the dealer had their money. They told me they had just came from the lot and was going to remove their outfit because it had not sold. They were shocked that it was gone. To make a long story short as of 3/14, the owners have not accepted the check because they were told that we couldn't get financing for $35K only $30K. He was trying to skim $5K off the top plus his commission. To top it off the finance company released the funds without securing the lien/title, so the sellers have now turned it over to their lawyer. We now have a 5th wheel sitting in our driveway and we don't even own it yet. Hopefully this will be resolved by my Birthday 3/25.

We just purchased (2/07) a '95 Bounder 34J. We both really enjoy the camper and have found no issues after 10 days of camping with it. Oh sure, it has the little scratches here and there but overall it has had pretty good care and we plan to continue that tradition.

We too had some early issues with a dealer and the financing but, a little nudge here and there (such as in signed contracts not being honored) from a good lawyer and we were on our way. Seems you just can't do business without a hassle these days. I can remember the good 'ol days when a handshake was as good as a contract. Sad to see that change.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

I never have purchased from another state.

The farthest I go is about 50 miles from home and there are a lot of dealers to choose from who will make the right kind of deal

Let us know if everything works out

Thanks to everyone who has asked how things are going.

We finally have an attorney handling everything. We worked with the owners and wanted to move on so we offered them half of the difference that they were losing from the dealer and they refused. They absolutely did not want to do business with the dealer and we had no choice but to hire an attorney to get the contracts honored so we could get the titles and register our vehicles.

It makes me sad that I had to stop talking to them because I really liked the owners alot, but it became obvious that our goals were no longer the same and we had to step back and take care of our interests.

We think that when they were shopping for their new rig they were told by a dealer they could get more as a trade in than what they sold it for. Our attorney called and said that he is sure this will be resolved very soon. I don't know how  but we did receive the title to the truck and we have registered it. Now we have to get the title to the fifth wheel and complete the registration.

Hopefully, this will be resolved before our vacation come July.

Welcome aboard,

We are doing the same thing over the holiday weekend.

My son has a baseball team that he manages (12 & under)

The grandson is 12 and plays very well.
They have 2 games on Sat. - 1 game on Sun. - and 1-3 games on Monday if they keep winning?

We go to all of the games as we enjoy watching the gs play ball.

I have been having a hard time trying to log in from the start.

Just last month traded my 04 GulfStream 35 foot class A in for an 05 34 foot Damon DP with just 3K miles on it. As you might suspect, I found a number of things that needed work, but the dealer has been great.  They fixed some things that I found right away, then I took it on a four-day trip not far away and came back with a few more things for the dealer to work.  They fixed those, I took it on another four day trip during which time the water heater quit.  Right now it's in the dealer's shop working on that and a few other minor things.  Some of the problems were obviously factory problems, but the dealer didn't quibble, just went ahead and worked them.  They also gave me a $50 gift certificate to use in their store for my troubles.  They initially filled up the 100 gallon diesel tank, then after I brought it back to them, they filled it up again -- hard to beat service like that!

My wife and I were avid boaters for many years, spending most of our weekends aboard a 32 foot weekend cruiser. During that time, we explored the many lakes and anchorages of Florida's Saint Johns River, and loved every minute of it.

But last year we decided we'd seen enough aligators and the time had come to see what's on shore. So we sold the boat, and bought a 37 foot Fleetwood Pace Arrow...

I decided a year ago that I did not want to make a travel trailer to spend my time inside... No big screens, no video games, nothing more than a few extras... This Sunset 14-ft Cozy Traveler is made for 6-cyl tow vehicles, weighs less than 2000-lbs loaded... Sunset-RV.com

Brand new with a warranty - you can find one well under 10G. AND IT'S made with LFE glue, by a small crew of Amish workers in Shipshewana, IN.

Let me know what you think.

Did a lot of camping in TT's over the years but now we are living in our 40' MCI Bus that has been converted.

We spend the summers in MI near our children and grand children and then I go off to SoCal for the winter (one son lives there) in our unit while the wife stays in MI for the winter.  She will retire in a year and then we will both go full time.
