We, Robin and I, and betty the wounder dog found a place on line and made a reservation @ http://www.medixrunlodges.com/ Nice web site with allot of usefull information. The Cabins there were very nice as well. We followed their directions from weedville per the sites best route directions with our 27ft camper. The site also says 27 ft max on trailers which is exactly what we were pulling. We arrived and found a better then 90 Degree turn into the RV park. I almost had the 27ft trailer jacknifed to get it in there and had to back up twice but we made it in. Then on our departure to go see the Elk that evening, we noticed a small sign on the right side of the road (passenger side coming in) that told us there was a trailer turn around at the bottom of the hill. This information would have been really usefull if it was on the drivers side of the road so the driver could see it when trying to attempt the turn from Weedville per their directions with a larger camper.
The RV sites were actually a wide spot on the leftside of the road as you drive in and were back ins that were on a slope with a retaining wall as the backside of the site. Larger campers would do better with sites 1 thru 5, more level. We had site 10 of the 11 and the furthur down the hill the larger the slope. We had adequate water and electric but we were on a slope so steep the back jacks were maxed out and the front jacks were barely deployed. Then other campers came in later friday night and parked so close that they had to move there pop-up camper so we could hookup and pull out on sunday when we left. They were a really nice couple from Dingmans ferry PA. We were against a hill on the backside and a road on the front. We extended the awning but cringed evertyime someone drove up or down the road for fear of hitting the awning. The fire ring was across the road in a grassy area with no table. Betty the wounder dog had to be stacked out on her lead across the road from the camper by the fire ring, we did leave room in her lead so she could reach the camper. This led to us running out everytime we heard a vehicle coming in or out to make sure that she was not in the way or they were not going to drive over her lead.
The area was awesome. it was also the fall foilage festivale in Renovo PA. Which is the secound full weekend in October. We have lived all over the country and nothing compares to fall colors in PA. Then add the bonus of hearing an Elk bugle was beyond awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knev7wPWC2Q Having hunted Elk in Wyoming and Utah nothing says fall like the squeal of a bull Elk at dusk. That Sound still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. So the actual trip was a complete success.
We did find a place more suitable for larger campers @ http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Benezette.Store.814-787-7456 They have a larger facillity on the banks of the west branch of the susquehanna river. There were bull Elk bedded down in the fields around the RV park. Medix run is more up on the hill away from the river vally. This is where we will stay next year. Reservations for there RV park can be made useing the landline phone number from the link. We plan on making a regular fall pillgramige to Benezette so I can get close to Elk and reset my inner compass for the coming year.
Also Medix run says there is an RV dump station on site. When i did finnally find it and saw someone useing it I was apalled. The trailer was connected and the drain hose was running up hill at a rather steep angle so the trailer valve was lower then the trailer dump connection, and the trailer tank was tipped away from the dump valve so the tank could not be fully drained. We dumped ours @ candyhill RV park wincester VA http://www.geocities.com/~candy_hill/ on our way home. Nice set up there and only cost $20.00.
&nb sp; Suggestions for Midex Run
1 Put the sign for the turn around on the driverside when following your "BEST ROUTE" directions.
2 Put the road into and out of the place on the fire ring side. This would let people angel back in to the connections and you could proubably add 5 more sites.
Thanks for all the peolpe who responded to my original request for info from this site. (which was 0). I hope this info helps some other poor unknowing sap with a 27ft trailer.
Good luck and good travels......
