"We have stayed in 3 HC parks since we joined in June, and have enjoyed all our stays. Stayed at Blackhawk Valley in Rockford IL; Rush No More in Sturgis SD, Hazen Bay Recreation Area in ND.

We use HC in conjunction with our other memberships (Thousand Trails and RPI). As fulltimers on a limited budget, it is essential for us to minimize costs. There is no way we could RV if we had to pay full price for campgrounds." ~Jill Ferrer

New Wondering about an RV Computer
Posted On 11/02/2008 12:29:34 by Rickkeith

Hi all,  I'm new here and new to RVing.  Just bought an old Winnabago in pretty good shape.  My wife and I are planning to use it for Dog shows mostly and a getaway on occasion.

Looking at some of the post, I don't really see a lot of new ones here.  Comon folks, there's a lot to be excited about.  Gas prices are down.  Yea!

But anyway, hear's my question.  I know I'll have to buy a laptop computer for the RV.  Too many uses and information I'll need on the road.  Just wondering what others are using. And how good it will work at the campsites that offer WiFi.

Rick, my wife and I will be fulltiming in a year. We already have a laptop that has wireless technology built in. I plan to get a broadband wireless card through Verizon. They run around $150. With this gizmo you just plug it into the port on the side of your laptop and as long as you have cell phone service you have connection to the internet. That way your wife can be on your computer while you are driving down the road.

Welcome Rick..........I just joined the group today and will wait for someone to answer your question! We will retire and start fulltiming next year so I'm going to take all the info I can gather to make our retirement easy and smooth. We bought a 99 southwind for a great price because it REALLY needed to be detailed (very dirty) but soap and water is starting to show her inner beauty!! I've been to several dog shows and they are a blast. I'm a dog lover and will be traveling a golden retriever ( yikes! the dog hair) Happy Trails!     S & G
